Meet The First Lady    April 20, 2019

Elder Maurine Lewis

Elder Maurine Arnold Lewis is an Associate Minister and First Lady of the New Light Full Gospel Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Maurine began her education in Chesapeake, Virginia, where she graduated from Crestwood High School. Upon graduating, she relocated to further her education at the Cortez Peters Business College in Washington, D.C. In 1964, Maurine and Rudolph were joined in Holy Matrimony.

In 1979, the Lord called Bishop to pastor New Light Baptist Church. Maurine, along with her children, April, Bobby, Estrelda, and Vicki, accompanied him to fulfill his call.

Although the entire family became immediately involved in existing ministries at New Light, Maurine organized the Las Fidelas, a women’s group which met monthly, where she taught on the “Walk of a Christian Woman”, planned workshops, seminars, etc. She directed the first evening Vacation Bible School and sat on the New Light School of Excellence Board. She serves well wherever she is needed.

Maurine was licensed to preach the gospel in October 1998. By this time the Las Fidelas had transformed into the New Light Women of Excellence. The monthly meetings and seminars evolved into conferences and retreats. In 2000, Maurine was appointed to sit on the International Women of Excellence Advisory Board founded and directed by First Lady and General Overseer, Elder Debra B. Morton of Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana.

In addition to the Women of Excellence, Maurine also founded the New Light Greeters Ministry and Nursery Ministry.

Currently you can find Maurine ministering each Wednesday in the New Light Noonday Worship services.

I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
